I was there. GOD bless the dead and bring back the tradition.
1969 Bonfire broke the world record at 109ft
24 days after my birth was the aggie bonfire collaps and 7 days ago I heard the best song of my life… We Bleed Marron me and my dad hug each other and cryed because it was so sad ive been a aggie all my life and I i was there when the aggies played the longhorns on thanksgiving night 2009 the next day my dad asked me what are you thankful for and I said the 12th man.REMEMBER 12 DIED AT THE AGGIE BONFIER AND YOU SHOULD NOT TAKE THAT AS A JOKE.
The off campus Bonfire has seemed from an outsider’s prospective to be doing it right. I would assume those students have a good plan already put together.

10 years ago today. RIP Aggies
Don’t worry. The settlements from the collapse are almost over or over with already. Now it’s all about renegotiating bringing back the bonfire. They know it will return but it’ll probably but constructed differently. There is a student bonfire done off campus as well.
bring the bonfire back if its not there when were there.
(sad sigh) when I was lil I grew up an aggie wanna be lolz I was a lil baby in an aggie cheerleading uniform I worked my whole life for it & still am Im a freshmen in highschool but me & all my besties are working are butts of to get in this college & i couldnt be more dissapointed to know im never going to see the a&m bonfire im so jealous of all yall who have seen it & everyyear when the date of the death comes around me & my frineds make sure the whole school knows we will work indefiantly to
There are serious rumors that yes they will. The university chancellor told the student senate this week that “You can have bonfire, but come to us with a plan not a dream. Understand the difference a plan has a budget regulations…. Remember 12 students died on the stack. This is not to be taken lightly.”
Dont you guys have the world record bonfire? we had the world record for tallest one but i think you guys broke it. Anyways we dont have them on campus anymore because during construction in 99 the bonfire stack fell and killed 12 students. There are rumors it may come back to campus though.
We still got them here in Holland.. Texas should join Holland. All have nice christmases.
will they ever bring it back?
Awesome…I never got to see one burn as I was a fish in ’99. Squadron 17 Centerpole ’99. Maybe one day it will come back to campus.

I was standing about 15 feet from the stack when they lit this one. The last was one of the best. God rest the Twelve.
I am class of ’99, and was at this one. I also was at the collapse in ’99 just minutes after it fell (we were on-site camping for tickets).
Terrible that the tradition has not come back yet. In my mind, it solidified the student body and kept “the Hate” alive! BTHO t.u.!! Bring back Bonfire!!
I was there. I was really little. but I was there. I remember being up there and watching it. That one burned for along time. I remember because I got tired and fell asleep. Then I watched as people cleared all the wood out. That’s a day I think I will never forget.
I was there. Thank you so much for posting this video. WHOOP!!!
really sad and touching video. I am class of ’03 and never got to see a bonfire and hate to see such a great and unique tradition go. It is important however to remember those who lost their lives celebrating the aggie tradition.
bring back bonfire… gig em
I was very depressed when I heard they were cancelling them indefinetely, they were part of my familys tradition every year. Maybe well see the Outhouse burn again someday.
sorry christian open his message i was trying to reply but i clicked spam xp sorry
anyway same here.
They sure were pretty back then. Off campus had a nice one this year, but thats hard to compete with. I wish I could have experienced it as a student. I was only like 12 then, so I didnt get the full effect.
I will never forget Bonfire! I remember when the football team and coach would give a speech and everyone would get just crazy! Bring back a campus Bonfire!
Bring Bonfire back to Campus. Whoop!
